Ideal Troy Cleaners calling it quits in Peoria after 105 years

After over a century in business, Ideal Troy Cleaners is calling it quits.

A sign posted at the store’s Detweiller Drive location said the store’s cleaning operations will cease on May 31. Stores will remain open through June 14 for pickups only.

“We have enjoyed serving the community and appreciate our many long standing relationships with our customers,” the sign read. “As almost all businesses do, Ideal Troy Cleaners has simply run its course.”

A spokesperson for the Triebel family declined further comment.

Ideal Troy isn’t the first family-owned cleaners to suffer a closure this year. Biehls Cleaners closed in March after 80 years in business in Central Illinois.
