Adopt-A-Senior for Father’s Day brings volunteers in touch with elderly

‘Neighbor Love’ works to bring people together. Those people are volunteers and elderly in nursing homes that may not have family or friends on special days like Father’s Day. Saturday at Sharon Health Care Elms volunteers adopted seniors as father’s of their own for the afternoon.

The non-profit organization uses donations from individuals and businesses in the community to bring a little bit of joy and maybe a little laughter into the lives of the elderly. Gale Hayes puts together four events a year for ‘Neighbor Love’ and said she needs more volunteers. Hayes said she would love for families to come out and bring their kids, introduce them to people and shine some light into their lives.

Gift bags were outfitted with socks, a puzzle book, toiletries, and playing cards made possible through donations. Cheese Nuts Brick Oven Pizza donated food for the event. Trefzger’s Bakery donated pastries, cakes, and treats for dessert.
