PEORIA, IL (HOI) – Peoria County leaders are tasked with finding the right people to fill the shoes of three men who died last week.
Administrator Scott Sorrel says the board has 60 days to fill positions left by former Peoria County State’s Attorney Jerry Brady, County Clerk Steve Sonnemaker and board member Dr. Greg Adamson. They are also looking for someone to replace board member Allen Mayer, who resigned in May.
Those looking to apply have to live in the county and align with the political party of the former member. For example, those applying to be the next State’s Attorney or Clerk will have to be Democrats. The individual moving into Dr. Adamson’s seat will be a Republican.
Sorrel says it will be hard to find replacements, because each of the men made a profound impact.
“All four of them were actively involved in their communities,” said Sorrel. “The respect of the organization, the respect of the community is very well warranted.”
Anyone interested in applying has to submit a resume and references to County Board Chairman Andrew Rand. Appointed individuals will serve until the 2020 general election.
