Peoria Bishop Daniel Jenky announced Thursday morning that the remains of Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen have been transferred to Peoria.
Following a three-year long legal battle, the move from St. Patrick Cathedral in New York to Peoria is complete.
The remains of Archbishop Sheen will reside at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Peoria.
With the move now complete, the Cause for Beatification will resume.
The remains will be encased in a monument inside the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Peoria.
The tomb will be open for viewing Friday, June 28 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm. Saturday, June 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
A permanent viewing schedule is to be determined.
