Woman stabbed in chest overnight in Peoria

Peoria Police are searching for the person responsible for stabbing a woman early Thursday morning.

Police say a 911 call came in overnight and officers were called to the 1600 Block of Lincoln just after 12:30 a.m.

There, officers found a woman who’d been stabbed in her chest on Warren Street, between Howett and Lincoln.

The victim told police she was in an altercation with a man who then stole her purse and got away, despite PPD deploying a K9 officer to track the suspect down.

The victim, is is expected to survive her injuries. Meanwhile, police say this incident remains under investigation.
