GALESBURG (HOI) — Another teen has been taken into custody, but three remain at large after escaping a detention home in Galesburg Wednesday night.
Police were searching a residence in the 1900 Grand Avenue in Davenport, Iowa at about 8 a.m. Friday, when officers located a 15-year-old female who was wanted on aggravated battery and escape charges. The juvenile was apprehended and transported to the Scott County Juvenile Detention Center, according to the Davenport Police Department.
The five forcibly escaped the Mary Davis Home Detention Center in Galesburg Wednesday and stole a staff members car in the process.
On Wednesday night, police located the stolen vehicle, but it was unoccupied. While searching the area, one of the male juvenile escapees was located and then taken to the Scott County Juvenile Detention Center.
It was originally reported the escapees — four males and one female, all 15 years old — had ties to the Quad Cities and Davenport area.
Superintendent Wendi Steck said all the staff members involved were treated for injuries and then released. She said their staff have a unique position where they act as detention officers and counselors, attempting to resolve issues without violence. After the incident Wednesday, she said the staff is very shaken up.
Three males involved in the case are still at large.
