Sunday marks six years since Washington tornado

WASHINGTON (HOI) – Sunday marks six years since severe weather brought tornadoes to multiple Central Illinois communities.

Pekin and East Peoria were hit, along with Washington which saw three killed, 121 injured and 1,200 homes were either damaged or destroyed.

The Washington tornado traveled at 60 mph, staying on the ground for 46 miles and lasting 46 minutes.

Winds were near 190 mph, making it an EF-4.
