Village board of Germantown Hills votes to allow the sale of recreational pot

Germantown Hills, IL (HOI) – Village President of Germantown Hills Mike Hinrichsen says the board voted in favor of recreational marijuana sales on Thursday night, which will allow dispensaries.
However, they are also putting it on the ballot for voters to decide in November 2020.
Hinrichsen says they don’t have the space for a dispensary right now anyway that would meet the requirements and likely wont get one, but they needed to make a decision before January 1st.
Hinrichsen says many in attendance Thursday were against recreational marijuana sales within the village, but they’ve had a positive response overall.
If a dispensary were to come to Germantown Hills, there would be a 3-percent sales tax implemented.
Hinrichsen adds that the board and public input was all professional and they came to a solution in a positive way.
