38-year-old rural Brimfield man killed in single-vehicle car crash

PEORIA COUNTY (HOI) — A 38-year-old Brimfield man died in a single-vehicle crash late Saturday night.

Joseph Hersemann, the driver of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at 12:37 a.m. Sunday at the scene, Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said in a release.

The incident happened at about 11 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of West Lancaster Road and Hanna City-Glassford Road, according to Harwood. A passenger was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Hersemann was wearing his seatbelt, Harwood said.

There will be no autopsy, but a toxicology report is pending.

Responding to the incident were the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, Logan-Trivoli Fire Department and the Timber-Hollis Fire Department.
