SPRINGFIELD (HOI) – A Peoria woman has been ordered to serve 15 months in prison for healthcare fraud.
47-year-old Erica Miller was also ordered to pay $101,960 in restitution.
According to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Central District of Illinois, Miller pleaded guilty to one count of healthcare fraud on July 11, 2018.
She was paid by the Illinois Home Services Assistance Program, which is partially funded through Medicaid, to be a personal assistant to a person with a disability.
According to her plea, Miller failed to perform tasks that assisted with daily living activities and repeatedly submitted timesheets for services she did not perform.
She also submitted timesheets while she was incarcerated in the Illinois Department of Corrections and after her release while she was on parole.
As a result, the Illinois Home Service Assistance Program suffered a loss of over $101,960, the amount she has been ordered to pay in restitution.
