(HOI) – Central Illinois nursing students could end up with two degrees in four years – and a break on tuition.

Illinois Central College and the Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University announced an updated agreement that should speed up the process.

ICC students can earn a dual degree in just four years, continuing what administrators call a unique partnership.

“We are creating a seamless pathway for nursing students to complete their associate’s degree as well as a bachelor’s degree at ISU,” said Emmanuel Awuah, VP of Student Affairs at ICC.

This agreement is a single application with dual enrollment and allows students at ICC to take online nursing classes at ISU.

Simultaneously, the group has also gotten assurances from local hospitals that nursing tuition could be reimbursed for employees who want that bachelor’s degree.
