NORMAL (HOI) -- A follow-up to our original gutter repair complaint in November.
Elizabeth Thompson says the company LeafGuard is responsible for her basement flooding after a new gutter system was installed.
"We had no water in the basement prior to LeafGuard installing the gutters. After they installed the gutters we had water in the basement. After they came out and fixed the gutters we had no water in the basement. We had torrential rains, we haven't had a lick of water in the basement since they fixed the gutters," says Thompson.
LeafGuard did respond after the first story aired.
Regional Manager Adam Dowler said in a statement, LeafGuard did look further into the issue, finding "significant and visible cracks in the foundation of the residence."
LeafGuard concludes "...gutters and/or downspouts, in our professional opinion, would never cause basement flooding."
The company adds despite the damage to the basement, LeafGuard is willing to consider the costs and offer a reasonable amount in contribution.
Thompson says at this time she's still waiting on damage estimates to the basement before taking the next step with LeafGuard.
