PEORIA (HOI) – Families now have a place near the hospital where they can stay for free while their children are being treated.

The Ronald McDonald House is a resource that just opened today that the charity said is something Central Illinois has been missing.

It features a game room – just the place for children to come relax and have fun, remembering what it’s like to be a kid – the mission of the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

When coming here families will also find 22 rooms – including a game and toy room – all for them to use for free.

It took just over a year for the building to be completed, with groundbreaking back in September 2018.

This cause is personal for many here in the community and being able to raise money or just donate time here to help children in need is something those behind the scenes here are most proud of.

The 22 rooms can be expanded – if they notice a need to help the community on a greater level, they are prepped to build 12 more.

Families will be able to start coming here, starting this week.
