Peoria, Ill. (HOI) - It's not normal to see people walking outside without winter clothes on Christmas Eve, but some found this to be the best opportunity to stop by the Shoppes at Grand Prairie.

Twas the day before Christmas, when all through the Shoppes, plenty of people were stirring to find a deal to pounce. The sun was shining on the main tree with care, in hopes more shoppers would enjoy this holiday so rare.

"It's pretty nice and a good time to get out and go shopping," said Leroy Mack. "You know, it's different for December."

The shoppers so happy without hats on their heads, while threats of snow stay away from their beds.

"It's fabulous and it's just so weird that we had snow on Halloween and now we don't," Jennifer Mies said.

A boy wearing shorts and I in my suit, had just gotten used to winter without jackets and boots.

"It's nice to be able to put your clothes on for the day and not have to worry about the gloves, coat, earmuffs and all that stuff," said Elvys Cruz.

When out on this day, the weather was a winner. I asked our friends if they would try grilling their dinner.

"What a great memory too. Something different than just the normal traditions," Mies said.

Away to the cars they fly in a flash, to open their new gifts and count their leftover cash.
