(HOI) -- The Republican primary race for the 17th District of Illinois is now down to two candidates.

Republican Eugene Farrell withdrew his candidacy Sunday, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections.

This leaves William Fawell, of Galena, and Esther Joy King, of East Moline, to run in the March 13 primary.

The winner will face incumbent U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-17) in the November general election.

Her only contender, Spanky Edwards, was removed from the ballot for the Democratic primary last week.
