PEORIA (HOI) – ABC is featuring a Peoria legend in a two-hour special this Thursday, all about the life and legacy of Richard Pryor.
Pryor is best known for his trailblazing comedy.
The curator at Peoria’s Riverfront Museum said Pryor’s life in Peoria had a huge influence on his work.
“As a poor minority in what was termed at the time an “All-American City,” life was a struggle,” said Bill Conger. “And he turned that struggle to fodder for his act.”
“He turned it into content that went beyond just entertaining."
The Last Days of Richard Pryor airs Thursday night at 8 p.m. on Heart of Illinois ABC.
