Comic book lovers got the chance to search for a new hit or a favorite classic in East Peoria at the Central Illinois Comic Book Convention.

Boxes filled to the brim with comics from across the decades surrounded the room at the Holiday Inn and Suites.

Ranging from 50 cents to thousands of dollars, there was something for the avid collector and the casual fan.

Alan Morton who organized the convention said with the popularity of Marvel and DC Movies, many forget that the beloved characters originated from comics as early as the 1930's.

"Well it's unfortunate that the only place you can buy comics now, brand new, is a comic shop and there's only one in Peoria and that's it. It used to be when most people started with them you'd see a comic at the drug store when your parents went and you'd say mom buy me this and that's how people got into them." said Morton

Besides comics the Convention also had plenty of fun collectibles.

The next Convention is East Peoria will be on April 5th.
