Pekin Police, school officials investigating student approached by man on school property

PEKIN (HOI) – The Pekin Police Department is working with Broadmoor Junior High School and district 108 officials after a report of a junior high student being approached by a man in a vehicle on school property on Thursday around 6 p.m.

A vehicle and driver have been identified as being at the school property at that time and the investigation is ongoing, according to a release from the police department.

Out of an abundance of precaution, extra patrol vehicles will be staged at the school for the beginning of next week.

In a statement, superintendent Bill Link said school officials are cooperating with the police to investigate and confirm details.

“The safety and well-being of our students is a top priority.” he said.
