MORTON (HOI) -- The Tazewell County coroner has identified the victim in Friday's fatal car crash on Interstate 155 near Morton as a 79-year-old Iowa man.

Wilburn E. Cole, of Keokuk, Iowa, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:28 p.m. Friday, February 7, Coroner Charles Hanley said a press release Monday.

A preliminary autopsy found that Cole died of multiple blunt force injuries. A toxicology report is pending.

Cole was the only occupant of the vehicle that was traveling the wrong way on I-155 when it struck a southbound vehicle.

On Friday, it was reported the driver of the other vehicle was taken to a hospital in Peoria with life-threatening injuries.

The collision is still under investigation by the Illinois State Police and the coroner's office.
