Accident on Farmington road turns fatal after ‘aggressive’ rescue attempts

PEORIA (HOI) - A Saturday night accident on February 8th turned fatal when 46-year-old Mona J. Rodriguez succumbed to her injuries a week later. Rodriguez was involved in a head on collision in the 2100 block of W. Farmington Road in West Peoria at 9:04 PM on February 8 said Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood in a press release .

Rodriguez, a native of Galesburg, was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center where she was treated for serious injuries. Harwood described the treatment she received over the past week as "aggressive." She was pronounced dead at 7:12 PM on February 15, one week after the collision.

Rodriguez died of multiple blunt force trauma injuries. The coroner said toxicology is still pending. There is no update on injuries or condition of the other driver or any passengers.
