CityLink expecting delays when Murray Baker Bridge closes for 7-month long project


PEORIA (HOI) -- As the Murray Baker Bridge shutdown draws nearer, CityLink is reminding passengers to allow for extra time in their commutes once the bridge closes.

The Murray Baker, which carries Interstate 74 over the Illinois River, will be closed starting March 29 for about seven months for a major rehabilitation project.

With CityLink's Transit Center, 407 SW Adams, being located near the Bob Michael Bridge, officials say there may be delays during departing lineups, but the morning rush hour, 6-9 a.m., and evening rush hour, 2-6 p.m., traffic will cause the most delays.

The lineups expected to be impacted the most include:

  • Morning – 6:15 am; 6:45 am; 7:15 am; 7:45 am; 8:15 am; 8:45 am; and 9:15 am
  • Afternoon/Evening – 2:15 pm; 2:45 pm; 3:15 pm; 3:45 pm; 4:15 pm; 4:45 pm; 5:15 pm; 5:45 pm; and 6:15 pm
