New lane closures announced for Murray Baker Bridge

Murray Baker Bridge

PEORIA, Ill. (HOI) -- New lane closures will take place this week on the Murray Baker Bridge, which carries Interstate 74 traffic across the Illinois River.

IDOT announced that the right westbound lane will be closed from 8:30 AM to 3 PM Monday, March 2nd, to Friday, March 6th.

On Saturday, the right westbound lane of the bridge will be closed from 7 AM to 5 PM.

This is prep work for the upcoming deck replacement project, which will cause the Murray Baker Bridge to close for months on March 29th.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
