UPDATE: The preliminary work leading up to the main construction project will take about two weeks to complete.
Once the prep work is completed, the traffic shift to the westbound lanes will begin and not on the March 16 date.
GOODFIELD (HOI) -- Interstate 74 near Goodfield will again see heavy construction, with preparation work set to begin this week.
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced the prep work for construction of the eastbound I-74 lanes between mile markers 109 and 120 will begin Wednesday, March 11.
Two-way traffic will be set up in the westbound lanes. This traffic shift will start March 16, according to IDOT.
The construction is expected to be completed in the fall of 2020.
