PEORIA, Ill. (HOI) -- Despite the global pandemic and the state-mandated shelter-in-place one local organization dedicated to helping families is still doing just that.
The Crittenton Centers is providing curbside pickup of baby formula, diapers and other items for those in need.
On Mondays and Thursdays, you can pull up to their building between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.--located at 442 W John H Gwynn Jr Ave. in Peoria--and they will bring the items to you.
Officials said they will be open as long as they have resources and that the need right now is immense.
"On a typical day, we might give out 165 or 175 diapers, and on Monday we did 1,050. So, that need is seven times greater than we typically do. We're just here trying to make sure families have one resource less they have to worry about and provide that to them," Crittenton Centers CEO Jeff Gress said.
Between Monday and Thursday this week they provided 2,030 diapers, 59 cans of formula and 20 packs of wipes to 64 families.
