CHICAGO (HOI) -- At his daily press briefing Sunday, Gov. JB Pritzker said testing for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is ramping up.
Currently, there are 4,000 tests being conducted each day in Illinois, Prtizker said. However, he said he would like to see 10,000 per day.
There have been a total of 27,762 tests to date, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
In the last testing update provided by Pritzker and state health officials on March 24, there were 2,000 tests per day.
Pritzker said there are two shifts to complete testing, and efforts are being made to have a third shift, Pritzker said.
He also said Illinois will be getting additional lab robotics, getting the first two machines on loan by Thursday.
