Woodford County reports one additional COVID-19 case Monday

PEORIA (HOI) -- Peoria area health officials are reporting one additional novel coronavirus (COVID-19) case in Woodford County, bringing the Tri-County area total to 16 as of Monday.

There are now five confirmed cases in Woodford County.

According to the Peoria City/County Health Department, Peoria County remains at seven confirmed cases and Tazewell at four.

The additional case reported over the weekend was the first case of community spread, Monica Hendrickson, administrator for the PCCHD, said at a press briefing Monday.

Hendrickson said four people are under investigation in the intensive care unit at area hospitals, with three confirmed cases in the ICU at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, and at UnityPoint Health Methodist Proctor and Pekin.

Earlier Monday, Illinois health officials reported an additional 461 cases, bringing the statewide total to 5,057. An additional eight deaths were reported, bringing that total to 73.
