PEORIA (HOI) - Powerful thunderstorms tore through the Peoria area Memorial Day evening, causing flooded roadways, downed power lines, power outages, and road closures.

First responders were also called to reports of property damage due to downed trees and tree limbs.

The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning until 1:15 a.m. Tuesday for northeastern Peoria County, northeastern Tazewell County, northwestern Woodford County, and southern Marshall County.

The weather service said as much as two to three inches of rain had fallen, with additional rainfall amounts possible of one to 1.5 inches.

Heavy rain was expected to cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage and low-lying areas," the weather service said.

Ameren's outage map showed multiple power outages, including Peoria, also East Peoria, Bartonville, and Tremont to the south, Chillicothe to the north, and near Brimfield to the northwest.

Authorities temporarily closed the 9800 to 10000 block of Brimfield-Jubilee Road due to a downed power line.
