72-year-old woman hospitalized after attack in Sunnyland

UPDATE 10:29 PM: Mary Pruitt was attacked by two males wearing all black Monday afternoon in Sunnyland. She was out for a walk around 1:45 when the attack happened. The attackers wore masks and were on bicycles. Pruitt was walking along E Washington Road right in front of the bus stop at Tall Oak Village.

Her son said she has been in the hospital with a swollen face, black and blue bruises all over her body, and possibly a broken elbow and concussion.

East Peoria Police are investigating the incident and have asked for help if anyone has any information about the assault.

Sunnyland, IL (HOI) - A 72-year-old woman is in the hospital after she was attacked by two men on bicycles Monday afternoon.

East Peoria Police Sergeant Chad Lacost tells us the woman was struck from behind and knocked to the ground. A family member of the victim says it happened near Tall Oak Village Apartments.

The victim is expected to survive as her injuries were described as non-life threatening.

East Peoria detectives are searching for the two male suspects, but it's unclear the age range. Descriptions were not provided.
