East Peoria (HOI) -- Boyd Gaming announced Par-A-Dice Hotel Casino will reopen July 1 at 11 a.m. with reduced hours and 50% capacity.

In addition, guests will need to wear masks and social distance. Going with those changes outlined in a news release, the casino will need to comply with the Illinois Gaming Board's rules. Those include providing personal protective equipment to employees and screening guests for Covid-19 symptoms.

Buffets, poker rooms, table game tournaments and valet parking are also not allowed.

“We look forward to getting back to business and providing our guests with a safe and enjoyable entertainment experience,” Cori Rutherford, Vice President and General Manager of Par-A-Dice Hotel Casino, said in a news release.

After the casino reopens on July 1, it will open daily at 9 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays it will close at 1 a.m.

On Fridays and Saturdays it will close at 3 a.m.

The casino has been quiet since mid-March when the gaming board initially announced a two-week closure. Eventually, it became an indefinite closure. The board asked for reopening plans from casinos June 10. Today, it announced they could open as soon as July 1 at 9 a.m.

Boyd Gaming confirmed in late May that between 25-60% of Par-A-Dice's staff could be laid off by mid-July. The company would not say how the reopening affects those plans. Boyd Spokesperson David Strow said, "I can’t speculate regarding future layoffs. Right now our focus is on getting Par-A-Dice back open, and our team members back to work."

Previous plans to renovate the casino's steakhouse and deli were put on hold when the pandemic began. The casino has also been approved to offer sports betting, but they have "nothing to announce," about when they will start, Strow said.
