NORMAL (HOI) - One of Uptown Normal's most popular annual attractions won't happen this year.

The town announced Friday that the two-day Sweet Corn Circus has been canceled because of continuing uncertainties tied to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Previously known as the Sweet Corn Blues Festival, the event attracts thousands of people to Uptown, and welcomes Illinois State University students who have just arrived for the fall semester.

This year was to be a celebration of the community's circus and agricultural roots. A new partnership with Maddox Sweet Corn was to have featured the boiling of more than 12 tons of corn using vintage steam engine.

Also canceled are all LoungeAbout performances during August and the Cruisin' Uptown Normal event.
