COVID-19 update – June 29: Tri-County area reports 2 new deaths

(HOI) -- Tri-County area health officials are reporting two additional deaths related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on Monday.

Peoria County announced a woman in her 70s who was a resident at University Rehab at Northmoor has died.

Tazewell County reported a 90-year-old female at Reflections in Washington died of COVID-19 complications, bringing its total to eight.

Since Friday, June 26, Tri-County area officials also reported 28 additional cases.

Peoria County's total number of cases rose by 24 to 487. The county is now reporting 28 COVID-19-related deaths.

Tazewell County reported four new cases since Friday for a total of 124. Woodford County remains at 34 cases and two deaths.

Of the total cases, 79.1% have recovered, while 13.8% are at home in isolation and 1.2% are hospitalized, according to the Peoria City/County Health Department.

Area hospitals are reporting two positive cases are in the ICU, and eight non-ICU beds are in use by those who tested positive and those under investigation of having the virus.

The McLean County Health Department is reporting two new cases since Friday, June 26, for a total of 258.

No new deaths were announced to leave the county at a total of 13.

There are currently no cases hospitalized and nine remain at home in isolation, according to the MCCHD.

The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 14 additional COVID-19-related deaths statewide on Monday, after 15 deaths were announced on Sunday.

These were the lowest reported deaths in a 24-hour period since March 30.

The state also announced 738 new confirmed cases to bring the state's total to 142,461.

The latest deaths reported by the IDPH are:

  • Cook County: 1 female 30s, 2 males 40s, 1 female 60s, 1 male 60s, 1 male 70s, 2 females 80s, 2 males 80s, 1 unknown 80s, 1 female 90s
  • DuPage County: 1 female 80s
  • Perry County: 1 male 50s
