Normal Theater still establishing safeguards to reopen

NORMAL (WJBC) – More places are reopening under Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan, but the Normal Theater is still making sure safeguards are in place before they open the doors.

Our news partner WJBC reports, Normal Civic Arts Manager Adam Fox said when the theater does reopen, possibly mid-to-late July, there will be new requirements. Some of those include socially distant seating, assigned seats, and a face covering until you get to your seat.

“We’ll also have Plexiglas in place at concession stands, box office, and other areas,” Fox told WJBC’s Marc Strauss. “We’re looking at how we package our concession goods and we will probably move away from taking cash, at least to start.”

Fox said the theater will also limit capacity to 50 people. More information will be available in the coming weeks.
