PEORIA (HOI) -- The Peoria All-Stars has one of the youngest rosters in the The Basketball Tournament (TBT), but they're ready to represent Peoria after being named a last minute substitution team.
Peoria native Willie Williams, the team's head coach and general manager, brought together the young team after the last minute news. The River City team features local names and also recent Bradley graduates Luqman Lundy and Koch Bar.
"We had a team set in stone, but once we were told that we wasn't in, the guys went their own separate ways and then at the last minute they say 'hey we got a spot for you as far as a substitution team' and we were the third or fifth team. So I had to ask those guys again and a lot of them couldn't play based on the fact that they had other plans. I think we have the youngest team in the tournament, but I'm excited, I'm excited," said Williams.
Lundy, 24, enters as the oldest player on the roster and is ready to turn back the clock after his 2018 Arch Madness performance that helped propel Bradley to the 2018 NCAA March Madness tournament.
"Win, lose or draw. I just feel like Peoria is that go-getter, blue collar mentality," said Lundy, who's excited to represent Peoria. "I feel like if we go out there on Sunday and play like that or throughout this whole tournament we shouldn't have any issues."
The Peoria All-Stars will play on Sunday at 1 p.m. on ESPN vs. Herd That (Marshall Alumni).
