Ameren Illinois activates Emergency Ops after severe storms ravage Central Illinois

CENTRAL ILLINOIS (HOI) - More than 10,000 Peoria County residents were without power shortly after storms rolled through Saturday night. The storms hit the area around 8 PM Saturday and lasted more than an hour.

At times, nearly 30,000 customers of Ameren Illinois were without power, over half of those in the Greater Peoria area.

In response to massive outages, Ameren launched their Emergency Operations Center to help restore power in areas impacted by severe weather.

Ameren crews will be staffed around the clock to coordinate service, restore power, and provide logistics support.
