Calm Before The Storm

Another warm day, but this time we are getting a slight break from the heat, compared to what we saw earlier this week. Even though heat indices are in the mid-90s, the breezy wind helps make this heat tolerable. If you plan on heading out, don't forget the essentials otherwise you'll burn fairly quick.

Outdoor plans this evening? Dinner time between 5 and 7 PM looks to be perfect before some strong thunderstorms roll into the area. Thunderstorms will be scattered and have the potential to be severe--but the main threat will be heavy rain, and gusty winds.

Severe weather chances decrease heading into tonight. Could still see some heavy rainfall lingering throughout the night. Cooler temperatures overnight and breezy.

You can track storms as they move into the area using interactive radar on our Heart of Illinois ABC app. Download the app here! I'll have the latest radar updates and your full forecast on the news this evening at 6 and 10.
