PEORIA (HOI) - A Peoria dining staple closed in December, but was torn down Saturday. The Sterling Family Restaurant closed its doors months ago, but now all that's left is dust and debris.
The family owned dining establishment announced they would be closing in December of 2019 after 31 years in Peoria. The owner decided to retire, and not renew the lease on the property.
One former customer said she has a long history of memories with family at Sterling Family Restaurant. "I used to go there with my parents, went there with my grandparents, went there with my kids, my grandkids, my great grandkids so it's kinda sad. It brought a tear to my eye, I was sad," said Lisa Norton.
No plans for the future of the land have been announced.
