Going to the dentist these days, a different experience for Alice Fevold.
She says her latest six month checkup to Midwest Dental in Pekin, was anything but routine.
"I was to wait in the car with a mask on until they came out to get me. And then I went in, they took my temperature, my forehead."
From there it was into her seat, and under the operating lights.
Fevold says she didn't realize she was getting more than what she bargained for.
"...they got me in the chair. Then after they asked a couple questions and the COVID-19 questions, they informed me they were charging an additional $12 for PPE."
She says she was blind-sided by the additional personal protection equipment fee, and wishes she would have been notified prior to her visit.
"...it might have been nice to say oh, by the way, you're going to be paying an extra $12 today."
Midwest Dental says there is in fact a small fee to cover the cost of P.P.E. which the office says, falls under the coverage of a number of insurance companies.
The Dental Office requires all staff to wear masks and face shields.
Additionally safety equipment and air purifiers, also installed throughout the building.
Midwest Dental adds they're taking the best precautions they can, hoping the fee is only temporary.
