No Redneck Fishing tournament, second year in a row

The Midwest famous Redneck Fishing tournament in Bath, Illinois is canceled.

The weekend long event usually brings thousands of people to fish out Asian Carp.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, organizers said it isn't safe to host this year.

The tiny river village is in it's second year without the tournament, making a real dent in the local economy.

"The Village of Bath usually makes money off of it to go for funding for somethings in Bath for the kids. Surrounding communities, the motels, gas stations, food stores, any place like that they really benefit from this," said organizer Betty DeFord.

The money made at the annual event goes toward the VFW Post 6408 in Havana.
