Center for Prevention of Abuse director says gift will help provide healing

PEORIA (HOI) -- With many people still stuck in the house, some are still sheltered in place in an abusive home.

But workers at the Center for Prevention of Abuse got a welcome surprise visit this week to help in their fight to help those in abusive situations.

Members of the Rotary Club of Peoria - North put together and donated more than 400 packages for people who utilize the Center's services.

The Rotary also presented them with a gift of $10,000.

Carol Merna, the Executive Director for CFPA, said that without community stewards like the Rotary Club, some people who need their help may not get it.

"We serve about 6,000 people a year, so being able to have these hygiene kits on hand is huge," Merna said, "Healing comes in a lot of forms, and sometimes being gifted or provided with some of the simplest things just makes a big difference to people."

If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, the Center for Prevention of Abuse is available 24/7.
