MCLEAN COUNTY (HOI) — Illinois State University and Heartland Community College have been awarded part of a $1.5 million grant for TRIO Student Support Services.
ISU is receiving $309,457 and Heartland is getting $275,104.
According to a release from Congressman Rodney Davis, the SSS grants are used for programs that increase college retention and graduation rates among traditionally disadvantaged students.
“The Student Support Services program has a strong track record of helping disadvantaged students succeed in college and I'm proud to support it," he said. "The colleges and universities I represent have told me how important this funding is to helping some of the most vulnerable students become successful."
"I look forward to seeing them put these dollars into action."
