PEORIA (HOI) -- The two Hy-Vee locations in Peoria will be giving away 250 meals each at a drive-thru event Tuesday.
The giveaways will start at 4 p.m. and end at 7 p.m., or while supplies last, according to an announcement by the grocery chain.
"The donation is made in support of September’s National Family Meals Month, an industry-inspired movement led by FMI – The Food Industry Association to raise consumer awareness of the health and societal benefits of sharing frequent family meals," the announcement read.
Customers can choose one of three family-size Hy-Vee Mealtime To Go take-and-bake entrées: lasagna, beef enchiladas or a cheese pizza.
The event will operate on a first come, first served basis.
The Sheridan Village Hy-Vee event will take place in the south area of the store parking lot. The Grand Prairie Hy-Vee event will be held in the store’s west parking lot.
Product will be safely loaded into customer vehicles using a contactless method to minimize physical contact and enforce social distancing.
"While it’s often difficult for families to find time to sit down and enjoy a meal together due to busy schedules, this year has proven unique due to COVID-19. Now, more families are cooking and eating meals at home, and Hy-Vee is committed to bringing them together around the dinner table by making mealtime even easier," according to the announcement.
