WOODFORD COUNTY (HOI) -- One person is dead and another was taken to an area hospital after a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon near Washburn.
Woodford County Coroner Tim Ruestman said the 18-year-old driver of the car failed to negotiate a stop sign when it struck a semitrailer hauling grain on Ill. Route 89 for a local farmer.
Ruestman says they believe the driver of the car did not stop due to multiple witnesses in the area.
The teenage driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, said Ruestman.
The driver of the semitrailer was transported to the hospital via Life Flight.
Ruestman said both drivers are from the central Illinois region.
The area is expected to be closed to traffic for several hours, said Ruestman.
