BLOOMINGTON (HOI) -- Miller Park Zoo is about to get something it has never had before.
City leaders, zoo officials and friends broke ground on a new exhibit for De Brazza's monkeys on Tuesday.
The monkey is indigenous to Africa and is known for its white beard.
Zoo director Jay Tetzloff said Miller Park Zoo is set to receive the #1 most valuable male in the population.
"These are medium-sized primates from Africa, and they weigh about 10-15 pounds," Tetzloff explained, "and it's a species we have never had at the Miller Park Zoo."
The zoo hopes to have the exhibit open by next spring or early summer.
The exhibit will include a glass viewing, which Tetzloff says will offer guests 'nose-to-nose' interaction with the monkeys.
