NORMAL (HOI) -- The Illinois State Women's Basketball team announced Friday they are suspending all team activities.

This decision also results in the cancellation of the Redbirds first three games of the season. ISU was scheduled to play at Northern Illinois (Nov. 25), at Tulsa (Nov. 28), and host Dayton (Dec. 2), but all three games will be canceled.

"As disappointing as this news is, our first priority is always the health and safety of our student-athletes, staff, and the individuals who work with our program. We will continue to follow the guidelines and protocols in place and look forward to returning to play when it is safe to do so," said Illinois State Head Coach Kristen Gillespie.

ISU says they had to make the decision due to limited roster numbers from COVID-19 testing protocols.

They say a decision on when they can return to team activities should come in a few days. The Redbirds went 19-10 last season.
