Illinois State beats I-74 rival Bradley, 71-56
NORMAL (HOI) -- The Bradley Braves were looking to make it 6 straight against the Illinois State Redbirds tonight. However, poor shooting performances and a red-hot Redbird offense led to a 71-56 loss.
DJ Horne played well for Illinois State knocking down 5 of his 9 attempted 3-pointers. He led the RedBirds in scoring with 23 points.
It was a slow start for ISU but in the end they are happy with the result.
"Obviously really proud of our team and their effort tonight. We got off to a pathetically slow start and we have to work on that…but I thought the start to the 2nd half was the key to the game." - RedBird Head Coach Dan Muller
For Bradley, Elijah Childs was the top-scorer. He had a double-double recording 14 points to go with 11 rebounds.
Next game for Illinois State will be this weekend against Valparaiso.
Bradley plays Loyola Chicago starting on Sunday.
