PEORIA (HOI) -- Riding high from 2 blowout wins against Evansville last weekend, the Bradley Braves appeared to be overly confident heading into tonight's matchup against the Loyola Chicago Ramblers. It cost them, as they went on to lose 71-66.
Head Coach Andrea Gorski says a lack of focus was to blame: "We just didn't have that spark, it was just missing. I don't know if it was just we think we're going to come in and coast or whatever and you can't do that. This conference is tough and again I just really think we didn't come in with the right focus. That's a tough lesson that you just can't wait, you've gotta start the game with the right focus and we've gotta do a better job tomorrow obviously."
Bradley's best scorer Lasha Petree struggled tonight (4-of-14 from the floor) but her teammates were able to pick up at least some of the slack. Gabi Haack, who had a 27 point performance last game, scored 22 points to go with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Lasha's younger sister, Mahri Petree also did her thing adding 22 points of her own.
While the game was close at the end the Ramblers were able to hold them off and pick up the win.
Game 2 is tomorrow afternoon at 4pm.
