We will see two rounds of light snow moving through the area this one, the first will be tonight and into tomorrow morning and the second will be late tomorrow evening into tomorrow night.
Accumulation will be possible but limited to about an inch or less for each of these two rounds of snow.
A more potent winter storm is set to move into the area on Monday.
Initially, we will see a wintry mix of snow, rain and freezing rain during the morning and into the early afternoon.
We will see a changeover to snow from northwest to southeast during the afternoon and colder air moves into the area.
Expect snow to then continue throughout Monday evening into Tuesday morning.
I think 3" is a good floor for most of us, with many seeing higher totals.
In terms of probabilities, it looks mostly likely that we'll see between 3-7" of snow.
There will be a range in totals from north to south with this system. Areas north of I-74 could see more as they'll see snow longer, and areas in the southern part of our viewing areas closer to Routes 9 and 136, especially east of the Illinois River, could see lower totals of just a couple of inches.
We'll continue to monitor the latest forecast data and update you with more specifics throughout the weekend.
