HOI (PEORIA) -- It has been over a month since the violent death of Dr. William Marshall in his own North Peoria home on January 6. Since then, there has been no arrests made or suspect description given.

New details from police documents Heart of Illinois ABC obtained show that a caregiver found Dr. Marshall in the basement of the home in the middle of a widespread crime scene.

A neighbor said she could not believe it happened in her quiet neighborhood.

"Who does that to a 92 year old man. Just horrible," Cathie Crawford continued, "Horror just absolute horror. Police investigator came to my door on Wednesday morning and said there was a body on the place."

Peoria Police said the investigation is still very active. But if there is any good news in this situation, neighbors said police told them they should not feel unsafe in their own homes.

"He seemed very confident that this person would not be coming back." said Crawford.

Another neighbor said this was a wake up call. Since then, he said many of them had added security cameras and extra lights.

"It does seem senseless and ridiculous that anybody would be so cowardly as to attack a 90 something year old man," said Rich McBride.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Peoria Police Department at 309-673-4521 or anonymously to CrimeStoppers at 309-673-9000.
