Former Morton High School teacher enters plea deal in criminal sex abuse case
PEKIN (HOI) — A former Morton High School teacher pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse in a Tazewell County courtroom Friday.
Erin Kemp resigned from her job back in September after an investigation of an “inappropriate relationship” with a student.
In December, she was charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse with a minor.
Original court documents revealed that the student said they had a sexual relationship. Kemp admitted to the relationship, but claimed it was not sexual.
As a part of the plea signed today, one of those counts was dropped.
The 38-year-old will spend 90 days in jail.
In addition to two years of probation, Kemp will have to be a registered sex offender for the rest of her life.
