MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA (HOI) -- In what was supposed to be another stiff road challenge in the Big Ten, the #5 Illinois Fighting Illini (16-5, 12-3) made easy work of the Minnesota Gophers (13-10, 6-10) on Saturday in a 94-63 win.
For the second time this season, junior guard Ayo Dosunmu registered a triple-double, this team posting 19 points (9-16 FG), 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Sophomore center Kofi Cockburn added in 22 points (9-12 FG) in just 24 minutes. Senior guard Trent Frazier tallied up 15 points (5-9 FG, 3-4 3PT), 6 steals, 4 assists, and one half-court buzzer beater before the half. Junior guard Jacob Grandison chipped in 12 points (3-4 FG, 2-2 3PT).
"I always tell my teammates, ‘Enjoy this moment. Don't let COVID or not being able to see your family affect it, because this is memories that's going to last for a lifetime," said Dosunmu.
Next up for the Illini is a road trip to East Lansing on Tuesday to face Michigan State. Tip off is at 6 p.m. on Fox Sports 1.
